An EEG (electroencephalography) is an examination that records brain waves using small electrodes placed on the scalp. It helps to evaluate irregularities in the brain's electrical activity.
Small electrodes are placed on the head with gel. During the procedure you lie comfortably; from time to time simple instructions such as opening and closing the eyes or breathing deeply may be given. No electricity is applied and no pain is felt.
An EEG is an examination that can be performed safely in all age groups. It is planned when your physician deems it appropriate.
The recordings are interpreted by a specialist and the findings are evaluated together with the examination. If necessary, additional tests are planned.
